Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

     The ISPAN Special Interest Groups (SIGs) provide an engaging way to connect researchers, practitioners, and policymakers interested in specific topics related to physical activity, brain structure and function, and neuroscience-based health promotion.

Each of our SIGs aims to:

  • Provide a platform to discuss and disseminate evidence, and to promote networking and collaboration on specific neuroscience-related issues within physical activity, cognition, and brain health;

  • Support the development of postgraduate students and early-career professionals by facilitating Student/Early Career Researcher (ECR) and Early Career Practitioner (ECP) mentoring, networking, and leadership opportunities;

  • Enhance communication and collaboration between neuroscientists, exercise scientists, psychologists, clinicians, and educators with shared research and practice interests;

  • Encourage the dissemination and translation of neuroscience-informed research into real-world applications in education, clinical settings, and public health policy;

  • Promote the integration of neuroscience and physical activity in interdisciplinary research, highlighting the brain mechanisms underlying movement, cognition, emotion, and mental health;

  • Advocate for positive societal impact by communicating scientific insights through public engagement, social media, and position statements;

  • Offer professional support and continuing education through webinars, workshops, and collaborative symposium across ISPAN events.
